While planning the visit to Poland of Norman Eisen, US Ambassador to Czech Republic, the US Embassy in Warsaw approached the Forum for Dialogue Among Nations to plan an event with students who took part in our School of Dialogue program this past spring. On November 3rd, the students guided the international delegation: US Ambassador to Czech Republic Norman Eisen with his family, US Ambassador to Poland Lee Feinstein and accompanying staff from the US Embassy in Warsaw, through Radom’s Jewish sites, on the basis of the tour they prepared for their fellow schoolmates during School of Dialogue workshops. The group visited the area of the former ghetto, the site where the synagogue used to stand, Jewish cemetery and many other places important to Radom’s pre-war Jewish community. Ambassador Eisen admits that the visit to Radom was a sentimental journey for him as he heard a lot about the town from his father, who owned a grocery shop in Radom before the war. The event was widely covered by national and local media. See the photos on the US Embassy’s in Warsaw Facebook profile |
